About 900,000 Honey Buzzards migrate over Israel every spring and autumn. The flock in this painting is soaring above the Armoured Corps Memorial in the Ayalon Valley. Tanks in the front are a reminder of the Israeli war of independence. At the top of the hill is a radar station (green ball) operated by the International Center for the Study of Bird Migration (located behind trees) to determine the location of bird flocks.
